Self-taught Artists

Yes an UPDATE from Al Black ... "Let'em know I'm back and ready to paint. I'm painting with oils again." Talked to Al and yes he is painting. His phone numbers are (772) 466-0556; (772) 940- 6966 and (772) 577-8879.

The painting above was done as a dedication. It is Al Black's rendering of Harold Newton's work on Eddie's Place where Alfred Hair died.
Stopped by and had a great visit with Mr. Black. Mr. Black showed us his studio ...where it all happens. It is fun to be around Al Black and Roy McLendon; Al sees that life does have a funny irony. However, he has a serious side that is very tender and reflective. He showed us photo portraits of his grandmother, grandfather, and a younger portrait of Mrs. Hilda Spotwood his mother. It was a great visit.

It was a great day. We got Al Black hospitality, which makes you feel at home. He reminisced, joked and kept us laughting. Highwaymen artist, Mr. Roy McLendon stopped in. What a wonderful surprise. Of course, painting was one of the main subjects. We looked at family albums and Al talked about his recent visit with his mother, Mrs. Hilda Spotwood. She is now 95 and looks so much younger.

Another Great Landscape
While visiting, Al's daughters stopped in to see if their Dad needed anything. Pictured from left to right is Vashan Anderson and Lawana Anderson with Al.
Mr. Black showed us his studio ...where it all happens. Of course, we were looking at amazing paintings that Al has leaning against and mounted on the walls.
